Aims, rules and compilation of Hyperlinks in Hydrology
Aims
Hyperlinks in Hydrology aims to provide a comprehensive catalogue of organisations active in international hydrology. In doing so, it should provide a valuable resource to promote contact and collaboration in the study of hydrology.
Hydrology is at the interface between earth sciences and life sciences.
It starts with hydrometeorology and ends where oceanography begins:
en route the hydrological cycle may have a pathway in the realm of
hydrogeology, ecohydrology, hydrochemistry and hydrobiology.
Water is essential and all pervasive. At one time, hydrologists were
found working merely in rural catchments but city problems have led to
the specialist area of urban hydrology.
The pages that follow attempt to stay close to the core of hydrology as
it is understood at the WMO Commission for Hydrology.

Rules
The compiling of Hyperlinks in Hydrology has been done in accordance with the following simple rules:
- the URLs given are those of official sites,
- links lead to the Home Page of the relevant organisation,
- no links to further lists of 'links',
- organisations providing educational material or real-time data are
non-profit-making.
Compilation
Hyperlinks in Hydrology has been compiled by the United Kingdom's
Institute of Hydrology (now Centre
for Ecology & Hydrology) on behalf of the WMO. Translation to the French
language has been completed by Cemagref
of France.
Comments should be sent to John Griffin
at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.
